Lynx Northern Shifters 3
crushing me.”
“I’m surprised you can breathe, let alone sleep.” But Trey let his body weigh down on Jonah again, absorbing the lynx’s heat as well as the vibrations that came from Jonah’s breathing and heartbeat.
“This isn’t when I have trouble breathing.” Jonah’s lids fell for a moment, almost shy at referring to sex. Then he traced a pattern on Trey’s shoulder. “Waking up with you is almost—” He paused, picking his words carefully. “I was going to say as good as, but that’s not what I mean. Waking up with you is as important as the sex. I didn’t know that.”
Trey lifted his head and recognized, not for the first time, that they were both in deeper than he’d meant them to be, but also recognized that he’d been a fool to think he could control this. If he’d tried to, he would have simply broken what was between them and that would have harmed Jonah as much as the leave-taking that was bearing down upon them. It weighed on Trey’s mind, but Jonah seemed to be ignoring it.
Trey swallowed once. “It’s not always important. Sometimes it’s only sex. No waking up with someone.”
Jonah frowned. “I don’t think I’d like that as much.”
“Yeah, well.”
He resumed tracing a pattern on Trey’s skin. “Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure.” In fact, Trey dreaded Jonah’s questions, feared they’d be something he found difficult to speak about. But one of his trade-offs for continuing to have sex with Jonah—to make love, let’s admit it, even if they had so far stuck to mutual masturbation and oral sex—was that he’d be as honest with Jonah as he knew how. No deception, no brushing Jonah off. The young man deserved at least that respect from Trey, whose iron control of the last twenty years had been destroyed. Trey had been more fragile than he realized. Or more vulnerable. Or maybe it was just Jonah.
“Earth to Trey.”
Trey focused. “Sorry.”
“How many lovers have you had?” Jonah bit his lip and added quickly, “You don’t have to answer that. I’m just curious. Probably too curious.”
Not such a difficult question. It didn’t demand he speak of Quinn. Trey dipped his head down to mouth Jonah’s neck. The first day, that would have been enough to make Jonah come, but now, while his lover hardened, he didn’t immediately seem set for take-off. Something about having sex seven times yesterday did that to a guy. Even a twenty-four-year-old insatiable guy.
“I don’t mind the question.” Trey explored under Jonah’s arm, enjoying the strong musk that belonged only to Jonah. The body under him rippled in satisfaction. He nipped Jonah’s biceps and pushed away, thinking. “But I’m not entirely sure.”
“Oh.”
“I had kind of a crazy youth. A bit sex-crazed, I guess.” Actually that was a stupid way to describe the way his pack had encouraged their young to go at each other during the full moon. It had been unhealthy and sometimes violent. But he turned away from those thoughts, seeing that Jonah was frowning in concern. “Then later, very few. Too much and then too little, I suppose.”
Jonah pulled him close, angling his mouth for a kiss, and Trey gave it to him. He didn’t insist he control everything, he wanted Jonah to take the lead sometimes, but Trey had a hard time not being the driving force behind the kisses. But he never felt resistance, never felt that Jonah wanted him to stop. Jonah seemed primed to take and take and take. As well as give, for Jonah held him, warm hands roaming over Trey’s back.
Trey broke off. He had some ideas. There were three days left and he figured it was time for he and Jonah to try something a little new. “Let’s wash up.”
He rose, disengaging their bodies which were rather stickily joined together, and Jonah blinked, surprised. “Now?”
Trey bent down and lightly bit Jonah’s left pink nipple. “You’ll see what a great idea this is.”
The wariness of the first day was completely gone, only anticipation lit Jonah’s face as he said, “Okay.”
They stoked up the fire and Trey went out to get snow to melt for the baths. He liked dirty sex as much as the next guy, but not for what he wanted to happen next.
“I think we’d better eat something, so we don’t have to eat later.”
Jonah cocked his head at that. “How long is this going to take?”
Trey knew he was smirking, but he simply shook his head. “Don’t ask.”
“All right.” He watched Trey carefully, curiously, completely
