Lynx Northern Shifters 3
meeting Jonah’s tongue, tangling them together. Trey’s palms cradled Jonah’s face as Trey continued this invasion that felt simultaneously rough and gentle, forceful and coaxing.
Someone was moaning and Jonah realized it was him. Sensation ripped through him, stronger than ever before. His back arched, and Trey kissed deeper, exploring the cavern of Jonah’s mouth while Jonah tried to keep up. He could barely think. His balls tightened and he held on to Trey’s shoulders as a primitive noise rose from his chest. White fire flushed through his blood. He couldn’t breathe and Trey breathed for him as his dick released its iron hold on what was left of his self-control. His entire body stiffened during his release, all the while Trey held him and kissed him. It was such a relief to have let go when someone was there holding him.
Jonah sagged in Trey’s embrace and Trey tamped down the kiss and withdrew. He leaned his forehead against Jonah’s, maybe because he was gripping so hard on Trey’s shoulders, as if that was the only thing still holding him together. “Oh my God,” he breathed.
“I guess you didn’t need a helping hand,” Trey said wryly.
Jonah felt dimly aware he should be unhappy he’d ejaculated like this, dampening his clothes, but the release and the exhaustion pulled at him while Trey’s presence reassured him, and he didn’t give in to the embarrassment. “I can’t believe this,” he managed. “I—” He frowned, tried to form words more coherently. “Are you attracted to me?” he blurted, dumbfounded.
At the question, Trey grinned. “Yup.”
With that, Trey tugged off Jonah’s long underwear, mopping him up a bit while Jonah found himself gaping again. With a matter-of-fact pat on Jonah’s still semi-hard cock, Trey said, “Very pretty.”
Jonah felt like he’d entered some alternate reality and he didn’t know any of the rules. Still, he ventured to ask, “What about you?”
Trey winked. It seemed so un-Trey-like. But somehow this encounter—could you call it sex?—had loosened up Trey too. “I’m older. We can worry about me later.”
“What are the chances that you’d be attracted to me?” Jonah persisted, because he couldn’t quite let it go, even if his body was demanding he sleep after the release and the tension and sleeplessness of the past few days.
“It’s not that incredible.” Trey was watching him now, trying to assess something.
“Do all shapeshifters like men or something?”
“No.”
“Just us?”
“No.” Trey crouched by the cot, ran fingers through Jonah’s hair and if Jonah had been lynx, he would have purred. “But it’s more likely in the shifter population than human population. Not sure why. May or may not be related to the fact there are more male than female shifters.”
“Oh.”
Trey lifted up the sleeping bag. “Get inside and stay warm. The fire’s died down and I need to stoke it again.”
Jonah obeyed, lacking any brain cells at the moment to be anything but obedient. But as Trey turned away, Jonah’s arm crept out from the sleeping bag he’d crawled into. He grabbed Trey’s hand. He suddenly had this terrible fear that Trey would disappear now, after what had happened. “You’ll be here when I wake up?”
Trey nodded. “I promise.”
Jonah didn’t release Trey right away, and Trey didn’t protest. Right before he fell asleep, he felt Trey kiss the back of his hand and place it down.
Kissing. He’d never thought Trey would kiss him.
What the hell had he been thinking, kissing Jonah? That wasn’t how Trey had meant it to go. It was supposed to be fuck-buddy sex. Matter of fact. Physical more than emotional. Friends with benefits. Whatever other clichéd phrase he could come up with.
But then Jonah had been so absolutely wound up, so wired, panicked, and it hadn’t been in Trey to leave Jonah on the hook like that, no matter the rationale for not getting too involved. There would be fallout, yes, and it would be hard to face, especially for Jonah. But it wasn’t as if Jonah had been having an easy time before Trey had kissed him. Trey had felt desperate to reach through the lynx’s tension and connect at some level so Jonah could find his way to release.
Well, I guess I succeeded. And if he cared to be honest with himself, he couldn’t regret it. Not now. Jonah slept most of the afternoon while Trey kept the fire going, washed a few clothes and peered at different dried goods trying to figure out what
