Your Children Are Listening: Nine Messages They Need to Hear from You

plain terrifying. A friend of mine who has older children once told me: “The years are short, but the days are long.” And there are many days when Catie and Gracie just don’t seem to be getting our messages, and Sarah and I look at each other and wonder whether it will ever get any easier. But then something truly remarkable happens. Our girls say or do something that tells us they are, in fact, getting our messages. Then we look at each other and say, with a combination of pride and relief, “Our children are listening.”
