Acquiring Trouble
all sweet on the outside, but she raised five boys. Do I need to say more?”
“Good point,” Morgan laughed as Miles went back to slowly undressing her. “I bet you’ll be a big pushover, won’t you?”
Miles tossed her bra aside with one hand as his other slipped under the waistband of her panties. Morgan gasped as his fingers found her sweet spot. His other hand came around to caress her bare breast as his mouth worked his way down her ne ck. “I can’t wait to find out.”

Morgan couldn’t stop grinning as she parked her car on Main Street. Miles had left for work late this morning, an event that left her feeling inordinately proud. After a night like that, she needed pancakes.
Morgan crossed the street and smiled as the sounds and smells of the Blossom Café re ached her. The patrons turned and offered their congratulations as she opened the screen door .
“I’m making a bet. In nine months the water tower will be painted either blue or pink reading, ‘It’s a Boy ’ or ‘ It ’s a Girl’. Don’t you two know how to do anything privately?” Mr. Wolfe joked as he took a bite of his grits.
“Who are you kidding? Nothing is private as far as you’re concerned!” Miss Daisy shot back at him to the amusement of the c afé.
“I guess that means you’re stickin ’ around ? ” Miss Violet asked from the kitchen window. “What are you going to d o now? Besides eating some of my famous pancakes , ” M iss Violet chuckled as she mixed the batter.
“ I’m going to open my own consulting company .” Morgan took a seat alone at her table although friends surrounded her.
“Don’t you think she’ll be a wonderful boss?” Pam asked as she walked through the door. “‘Morgan Davies Consulting’ sounds perfect! I’m so proud of you,” Pam smiled as she took the empty seat at the table.
“Thanks Pam. That means so much to me. ” Morgan felt her heart grow with the support from her sister.
“The boys are so excited about being ring bearers. I must admit, I’m pretty excited about being the m atron of h onor too, “ Pam giggled as she and Morgan started talking about the wedding and her new business.
Morgan was thriving with the love and support of her sister and her fiancé. Miles had already told her that Family Farms would be her first client. She was going to work on finding a way to strengthen the company against potential takeovers. Although David was sitting in a jail cell, he had still known a good business deal when he saw it. Others would soon come knocking . S he and Miles were going to work together to find a way to k eep the family farms just that.
Morgan couldn’t be happier. She had a fiancé that loved her, a sister that supported her , and a town that embraced her. Her real life was even better than her dreams could ever be!
Miles had finished sending the names of all his military buddies to Pierce when the direct line rang at his desk. Knowing it was Morgan , he didn’t even bother to check caller ID . She had promised to give him a call and let him know when her bachelorette party wo uld be so he could tell Pierce.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Miles said as he answered the phone.
“It’s nice to feel wanted,” a deep voice said back to him.
“Cy! Sorry, I thought it was Morgan calling , ” Miles paused, all his senses kicking in. “What’s the matter?”
Cy sighed into the phone, “Nothing a couple pain relievers can’t take care of. I had to call and offer my congratulations. Y’all are dropping like flies.”
Miles grinned. Cy wasn’t the marrying type. He was the travel - all - over - the - world, girl - in - every - port type of guy. “How’d you know?”
“I could see the water tower from here!” Cy joked.
“Where is here?”
“Switzerland.”
“What are you doing there?” Miles asked. Cy, with his shaved head and tattooed arm , wasn ’t really the Switzerland type.
“I’m skiing. Hence , the need for pain relievers.”
“Do you know when you’re coming home yet? You know I’d love for you to be in the wedding.” Miles hoped, but knew it wasn’t likely.
“Wish I could, but it doesn’t look like I’ll make it home. I’m sorry I’m going to miss the wedding. You know I want to be there.”
“What job are you on?” Miles wondered.
“Just trying to make my way though a whole bunch of snow bunnies,” Cy’s gravely voice chuckled.
“You know I could find out,” Miles said
