that he was dying to tell Bo about Janine’s cheating past make him just as bad as her? Or did his continued silence on the subject make him even worse?
It’s in the past , he reminded himself. It doesn’t matter anymore either way. Just forget it.
Shoving the whole issue to the back of his mind, Sam pinned Bo with a searching look. “She did get the wrong idea. You know that, right?” Sam knew the answer—or at least he hoped he did—but he needed to hear it from Bo. Otherwise he’d never be able to forget the fleeting uncertainty in Bo’s eyes which said maybe he wasn’t quite as okay with Sam and Dean’s one-night sexual history as they’d both thought.
Bo stared straight into Sam’s eyes, his own wide open and unshuttered. “Yes, Sam. I know she did.” I trust you, his slight smile seemed to say. Relieved, Sam nodded. “I just wanted to make sure.” He could feel Dean watching them both. Dean never said so, but Sam knew he still felt guilty about their one night together almost a year ago, even though Sam and Bo had been broken up at the time.
Leaning forward, Bo planted a soft kiss on Sam’s lips. “What have y’all found on the videos from Friday?”
“The camera caught what Sam and Adrian saw in the closet,” Dean answered, obviously glad for the change of subject. “The other camera caught the sounds, but didn’t show anything on video.”
Renewed worry clouded Bo’s eyes. “So it was real. I was afraid of that.”
“Adrian will be with us for five nights. I’ll have lots of time to work with him on perfecting his control.” Sam picked up the braid falling over Bo’s shoulder and let it run like a living rope across his palm. “What happened was real, yes. But we’ll deal with it.
We’ll help Adrian deal with it. It’ll be okay.” 134

Bo nodded. “Yeah. Of course it will.”
Something told Sam that Bo didn’t believe that any more than he did. ***
Sam’s feet thudded on the sidewalk. His lungs drew in biting winter air and blew out white fog with each harsh breath.
It was too cold for an outdoor run, really. Twenty-nine degrees, with a damp, cutting wind rolling off the Bay. But Sam didn’t care. Jogging along in the frigid early morning cleared his head and released some of the tension which had been building inside him for days on end. At just after dawn on a Sunday, the waterfront streets were eerily deserted, and Sam relished having the stately old buildings and gnarled, ancient oaks to himself.
Normally, Bo would’ve been right there with him. Morning runs together had become a routine for them. The last few days, though, Sam had been forced to go alone since Bo refused to leave the boys by themselves even for an hour.
Sam was acutely aware of the empty space beside him, but at the same time he enjoyed the solitude. He was glad Sean and Adrian were out of Janine’s house, even if it was only temporary. Having them around under this particular set of circumstances, however, was proving to be more stressful than he’d anticipated. He’d worked with Adrian for at least a couple of hours every day, and the boy had already made huge strides in his control techniques, but his fear of returning to his mother’s house hadn’t abated one bit. A frightened Adrian meant a sullen and argumentative Adrian, which in turn meant an equally frightened—and extremely short-tempered—Bo.
Sam couldn’t blame Bo for being in a bad mood. But that didn’t make it any easier to deal with.
The miles passed in a blur of cracked concrete and bare winter branches, and before Sam knew it he was slowing to a walk in front of the building where Bo and the children waited. Digging his keys out of the pocket of his sweatpants, he unlocked the front door and climbed the stairs to their apartment. Part of him hoped Bo and the kids would still be asleep. Another part of him hated the fact that he felt that way.

The apartment was as dark and silent as it had been when Sam left over an hour before. He eased the deadbolt into place, set his keys on the counter and headed for the bedroom as quietly as possible.
In the watery morning light coming through the curtains, he could just make out the shape of Bo’s body curled beneath the covers. Toeing off his running shoes, Sam padded over to the bed and stood gazing down at the one person he’d ever loved with his whole being. Bo’s face was
