anger. He was furious and she understood why.
    "Be calm, brother. We have control of the cities. Our troops are now arriving at the suburbs and small towns. Soon it will be over," she said.
    "I know sister. But now the humans know how to destroy us, they will try. We have killed millions but they still outnumber us," said Dragos, he added, "we must increase our numbers by making new vampires."
    Daciana seemed to think about this for a moment. She knew Dragos was correct. The humans were weaker than vampires, but there were more of them. This could become a real problem.
    "You are right brother," she said, "but not too many. We will have to train the new vampires and we still need enough humans to feed on ."
    "Yes of course, Daciana. You are right," Dragos replied.
    Dragos thought and paused in front of the controls for a moment. He was going to make an announcement . He had waited so long to take over the world. The cities were destroyed but there were still lots of humans in the small towns and suburbs. What could he do? When changing a human into a vampire, it was important to choose carefully. Suddenly, Dragos clicked his fingers. He knew what he was going to say.
    "I have an idea," he said to Daciana.
    Dragos pushed a button and spoke into a microphone.
    "Vampire squadron commanders," he said, "I have an important message. The president has told the humans how we can be killed. The humans will try and fight us. We must increase the number of vampires. Tonight, I want you to choose one human and make them a vampire. Choose carefully. They must be young and physically attractive. Look for someone who will make a good vampire, someone who is not afraid to be cruel. Bite them tonight, and tomorrow night they will be one of us. It will be your job to teach them the vampire ways. Now, go into the suburbs and conquer . America will be ours!" shouted Dragos.
    Behind him in the room, the waiting vampires cheered. Daciana put her cold hand on her twin brother's shoulder.
    "Well done," she said, "I knew you would know what to say. We will conquer the world, we will make the rivers run with blood!"

CHAPTER TWELVE

    9.10pm.
    Amy’s house.

    Christine Anderson was upstairs in her bedroom, where she was desperately trying to call Amy. She kept trying her cell phone but there was no signal. A few minutes ago, Christine had seen the president on TV. She had heard her talk about the vampires and then seen one of them kill her! It was like something out of a nightmare . Was she sleeping? Was this real? She looked at her phone and checked the battery, it was charged but there was still no signal. Christine frowned .
    The president had said that the vampires now controlled many of the world's cities. She had said that soon they would come to small towns and suburbs. This was a small town...
    Outside Christine heard gunfire and a scream. Her heart beat faster. It was really happening. Her hands shook as she tried to call Amy one more time. She sighed. There was still no answer.
    Downstairs, Christine heard a crash and breaking glass. Somebody was breaking into her home. Christine was a brave woman. She found the baseball bat she kept under the bed and held it high. If there was a vampire in her home, she was going to fight.
    Slowly, she crept down the stairs. Her feet were silent on the soft carpet. Christine heard a noise and her heart beat faster. She could hear someone in the kitchen. Christine's heart was beating even faster now. She was sweating and her mouth was dry.
    What if it is a vampire? The president said they were strong and fast, she thought.
    Christine walked along the hallway, towards the kitchen. She saw a photo of Amy, Jen, herself and her ex-husband. It was taken five years ago .
