Where The Heart Is: A Bay City Paranormal Investigations story
rose and shook the boy’s hand. “We’ve actually met before. You waited on my friends and me when we came out for Karaoke Night on Saturday.”
Not even a week . Such a short time to already feel so comfortable with Sommer. To feel like half of a couple.
Dean shook off the thought. It made him feel dangerously warm inside.
Cody tilted his head sideways. “Oh, yeah, I remember. You were with Sommer’s friends.” He grinned, showing dimples. “Sorry, I don’t have a very good memory for faces.”
“No problem. I bet you meet so many people every day it’s hard to keep them straight.”
Sommer sidled up and wrapped a possessive arm around Dean’s waist. “Well, Cody, I know you have to be at the winery in half an hour, so why don’t we get started?”
Cody’s blue eyes took on an amused glint. “Okay, sure.” He pulled out a chair and plunked himself into it, shooting Dean a look that said he’d seen Sommer’s jealous streak before. “What’d you want to ask?”
Settling in his chair, Dean picked up the audio recorder he’d brought. “First off, is it okay if I record you? If not, that’s fine, I have a notebook, it’s just that my handwriting kind of sucks and it’s hard for me to read my own notes sometimes.”
Cody laughed. “It’s fine if you record me. I don’t mind.”
“Great.” Dean clicked on the recorder. “So. Cody. You ever seen any ghosts here?”
“He didn’t flirt with me at all,” Dean said fifteen minutes later as Sommer shut the door behind Cody. “You said he would flirt.”
Sommer grinned. “What, are you disappointed?”
“No.” Dean grabbed Sommer’s wrist as he approached and pulled him down for a kiss. “I am a little disappointed that he wasn’t able to help any, though.”
“I know, and I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be.” Smiling, Dean touched Sommer’s cheek as he straightened up. “I said he wasn’t any help, but really he was, just not in the way I’d hoped. Knowing he hasn’t experienced anything paranormal is actually helpful in its own way.”
“I’m glad.” Sommer walked over to the sink and began washing the dirty coffee mugs.
“Yeah. I think Rich is the one who’s gonna be the most help, though.”
Sommer shot a curious glance over his shoulder. “Why’s that?”
A very good question. In fact, Dean had no idea why he was so sure Rich would know anything particularly useful. Rich was the only employee who’d been at this house on a regular basis since before Sommer’s parents disappeared, but that didn’t mean he would be able to shed any light on the case. Nevertheless, Dean was positive he could.
“Just a feeling.” Rising to his feet, Dean crossed to where Sommer stood at the sink. He wound both arms around Sommer’s waist and kissed his neck. “You know what?”
Sommer leaned into Dean’s embrace with a soft hum of pleasure. “What?”
“I’m kind of glad Rich isn’t here right now.”
“Mmmm. Why?”
Grasping Sommer’s shoulders, Dean turned him around. “Because if he was here, I couldn’t do this.”
He dropped to his knees, undid Sommer’s jeans, pulled out his flaccid cock and swallowed it before Sommer could say a word. Above him, Sommer let out a surprised squeak. Wet, soapy hands dug into Dean’s hair. Sommer’s hips began to move, fucking Dean’s mouth even before he was fully hard. Dean shut his eyes and let himself get lost in the taste of Sommer’s skin and the smell of desire heavy in the air.
Kneeling at Sommer’s feet, eyes closed and mouth full, Dean could admit to himself the real reason he was glad he’d have to wait two weeks to talk to Rich. The housekeeper was the key to solving the mystery of Sommer’s ghost. Dean felt it in his bones. And once the case was solved, Dean had no reason to stay.
The thought of leaving, of never seeing Sommer again, made Dean feel cold and empty inside.
He concentrated on Sommer—the musky scent of his skin, the sharp taste of precome, the feel of Sommer’s cock pistoning in and out of his throat. Whatever happened in the future, he had this, here and now, driving away the icy lump in his belly to make him feel warm and full again. He intended to enjoy it while it lasted.
Chapter Ten
After a few days of intending to go back home with Ron and Kerry and ending up spending the night with Sommer, Dean finally gave up and moved his things to the Blue Skye Inn. Kerry not only didn’t argue, she encouraged it. According to her, he and Sommer had both been
