have seen it that way.” Sommer took another sip of wine, licking the residue from his lips in a way Dean found enchanting. “Maybe that’s not even what happened. It doesn’t matter anyway. What’s done is done. I have to move on now. I have to live my own life, for myself, and for…for the people I love.”
Oh God, this is it. Heart nearly pounding through his rib cage, Dean stared into Sommer’s eyes. “You were about to say something, before the hostess called us. What was it?”
Sommer drew a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I know we haven’t known each other long, but I…” He bit his lip, brown eyes glittering in the lamplight. His free hand came up to cup Dean’s cheek. When he spoke again, his voice was a raw whisper. “I love you, Dean. It’s crazy, I know, but I do.”
He loves me. The tense bubble in Dean’s gut burst, sending a wave of euphoria washing over him. Beaming, he surged forward and planted a hard kiss on Sommer’s mouth.
“I’m so fucking glad you said that,” he murmured as he drew back. “Because I’ve known I was in love with you since the minute you stuck your hand up my ass.”
Sommer let out a startled laugh, palm dropping from Dean’s cheek. His other hand remained tangled with Dean’s. “You sure have a way with words.”
“That’s what they tell me.” Feeling playful, Dean picked up his wineglass and arched an eyebrow at Sommer over the rim. “Of course, no one ever says if my way is good or bad.”
“Definitely good.” Sommer grinned, pure joy glowing in his face. “God, I’m relieved. I was a nervous wreck coming here, not knowing for sure what you’d say.”
“But you came here anyway.” Dean shook his head. “You’re a brave man, Sommer. I never would’ve had the guts to leave my home like that, not knowing what would happen.”
“It wasn’t so brave, really.” Sommer laid two fingers over Dean’s mouth, cutting off his protest. “They say home is where the heart is. Chapel Hill and the Blue Skye Inn stopped being my home the minute you left.”
Warmth blossomed in Dean’s chest. He couldn’t speak past the emotion clogging his throat, but Sommer seemed to understand exactly how he felt. Leaning forward at the same time, they came together in a soft, slow kiss which said it all.
When they pulled apart, Dean smiled. “Welcome home.”

Bay City Paranormal Investigations Book 5
After more than a year as a couple—and plenty of bumps along the road—Sam Raintree and Dr. Bo Broussard are finally settling into life together. Bo has come to terms with his sexuality, their business is thriving, and Sam has begun to accept his role as a step-parent of sorts to Bo’s sons, Sean and Adrian. The only real dark spot is Bo’s exwife, Janine.
When eleven-year-old Adrian begins exhibiting signs of psychokinesis—the same ability which allows Sam to manipulate interdimensional portals—the friction between Sam, Bo and Janine escalates. Sam and Bo have reason to believe Adrian’s raw, uncontrolled talent poses a danger to him and those around him. Janine, however, believes Sam and Bo are encouraging dangerous delusions on Adrian’s part. Common ground is nonexistent, anger and hard words ever-present.
Caught in the middle of the conflict and burdened with an ability he can’t yet control, Adrian is soon pushed beyond his limits. With
