the kids were here with us, I still couldn’t do anything to help Adrian deal with what he’s going through. I hate that.”
“I’m sorry, Bo. I wish I could do more to help.” Bo lifted his head to gaze into Sam’s eyes. “Sam, you’ve already offered to teach him how to control his psychokinesis. That’s something I could never give him, no matter how much I might want to.” He shifted enough to lay a hand on Sam’s cheek. “Don’t ever think you don’t do enough. You’ve done more than I ever could’ve asked you to.” The expression in Bo’s eyes brought a hot flush to Sam’s cheeks. Not knowing what to say, he opted to pull Bo’s face down and kiss him. Bo opened up with the soft sigh which always made Sam’s heart lurch. A wave of tingling warmth spread through Sam’s body when Bo’s tongue slid against his.
Closing his eyes, Sam let the sensation carry him away. There’d be plenty of time for worry later.

An Inner Darkness
Chapter Eight
The next few days passed without a word from Janine, Lee or either of the children.
Bo was nearly beside himself with worry, convinced the lack of communication meant something had gone horribly wrong and Janine was trying to keep the truth from him.
For his own part, Sam didn’t know what to believe. He was concerned about the boys, but he couldn’t help feeling that Lee, at least, would contact them if anything bad happened.
Not that he’d had any luck convincing Bo of that. By Halloween, Bo was on the verge of snatching the children from Lee and Janine’s house and making a run for it.
“I’ll go over there tonight,” Bo said, standing at his office window and staring out into the bright afternoon. “Janine’ll be taking the boys out trick-ortreating around six thirty, I can catch them on their way out.”
Shaking his head, Sam crossed from the bookcase he’d been perusing to stand beside Bo . “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” “I just want to check on them.”
“Yes, I know. But Janine might not see it that way.”
“I won’t make trouble.” Bo turned and pinned Sam with a sorrowful look. “It’s been four days since she took them. I’m worried, Sam. Why haven’t we heard from them?” www.samhainpublishing.com 79

Sam slid his arm around Bo’s waist. “We usually don’t hear from them between visits. Maybe it just means everything’s been quiet.” Bo didn’t say anything, but some of the fear faded from his eyes. Sam was glad. He hated seeing Bo eaten up with anxiety as he’d been the past four days. A knock sounded, followed by the office door flying open. “Oh. Oops, sorry. Didn’t realize y’all were, um, busy.”
Dean’s tone wasn’t nearly as apologetic as his words. Letting go of Bo, Sam turned to meet Dean’s sparkling eyes and wide, teasing grin. “Don’t you know by now not to just walk in here when the door’s closed?”
“Hey, I’m not David, you know. I’m just waiting for the day when I actually catch y’all going at it.”
Bo pivoted to face Dean. “Okay, Dean, what did you—?” He stopped mid-sentence and stared. “What the hell are you wearing?” “A costume.” Dean glanced down at the solid black unitard clinging to his body like a second skin. “You said we could.” “Yes, but…” Bo gestured helplessly at Dean. “I didn’t really expect anyone to come to work dressed as a cat.”
Dean reached up to run a thumb along the edge of one of the black and white pointed ears perched on top of his head. “But I look so hot in this.” The corner of Bo’s mouth twitched. “Relax, Dean, you can keep the costume on. I was just surprised, that’s all. Unlike some people.” He shot a pointed look at Sam.
Sam shrugged. “I saw it earlier. You were already holed up in here when Dean got here this morning.”
“Hm. You’re right.” Moving away from Sam’s side, Bo dropped into the chair behind his desk. “So, Dean, what was it you needed? Or were you really just hoping to catch Sam and me with our pants down? So to speak.” Sam laughed out loud, some of his worry for Bo falling away with Bo’s light words.
If Bo was making jokes, he must be feeling better about things, which was good.

Dean’s grin disappeared, replaced by a sudden nervousness. “Um. Well, Janine called, she said—”
“Wait, Janine called?” Bo leaned forward, frowning. “Why didn’t you put
