    Drei Individuen verdienen an dieser Stelle besondere Erwähnung, weil ich mit ihrer Arbeit besonders viel Schindluder getrieben habe. E. O. Wilson dürfte dem Leser ein Begriff sein, während Walter J. Fontana zu den kommenden Stars der Biokomplexitätstheorie gehört. Andy Ilachinski hat das synthetische Waffensystem ISAAC/EINstein entwickelt, auf dem EMET lose basiert.
    Das Folgende ist nicht einmal eine annähernde Übersicht über ihr Werk, aber es finden sich hier einige der Bücher und Artikel, die wesentliche Ideen des vorliegenden Romans angeregt haben. Unnötig zu erwähnen, dass keine davon auch nur im Entferntesten für Arkadys und Arkashas unangenehme Erlebnisse verantwortlich gemacht werden kann.
