    Passy (south)

    1. Xavierre’s house, 40 rue Raynouard: a wedding party and Morbier as jealous old fool.
    2. Marché de Passy, rue Duban and rue Bois Le Vent
    3. Commissariat de Police, across from Marché. They just don’t get it.
    4. Le Corbusier Foundation, 8–10, square du Docteur Blanche (annex, middle alley): a painter in residence with a secret interest in engravings?
    5. Mme. de Boucher’s apartment, rue Alphonse XIII: memories of resistance and a parrot who loves Verlaine.

    6. Euskadi Action office/Basque cultural center, rue Duban: give peace a chance?
    7. Basque bistrot on corner near office: a deal sealed in olives?
    8. Café under elevated Métro at Passy, said to be near Radio France (everything’s relative): old news from the south-west.
    9. Maison de Balzac, 47, rue Raynouard: reflections on a most undivine comedy at the home of the master of the human comedy.

    Passy (north)

    10. Marché Saint-Didier, rue Mesnil: vanished into thin air in a covered market?
    11. Place Victor-Hugo: all the important roads lead here, but which one?
    12. Jardin de Ranelagh: taken for a donkey ride.
    13. Musée Marmottan, rue L. Boilly: Aimée’s impression is that something is very wrong.
    14. Rue Copernic: for a little while, the world revolves around the stolen Mercedes parked here.
    15. Reservoir, rue Copernic. A princess gone missing; can she be found? can she find herself?
    16. Rue Paul Valéry. Poets often offer a way out.
    17. Avenue Foch. Among the diplomats.

    18. Fondation d’Auteil, 40, rue de la Fontaine. Charity should begin at home.
    19. Finale in a country lane. Passy still seems like a village.

Cara’s Passy Picks

Musée Marmottan: 2, rue Louis Boilly, 75116 Paris. (See #13 above.) An unparalleled collection of works spanning Monet’s entire career, with choice works of other Impressionists.
Statue of Liberty: Allée des Cygnes (access, alas, at the other end of the island from the Pont de Bir-Hakeim). Cast from the mold of a ¼-size model made by Bartholdi while fashioning the one that stands in New York Harbor.
Café du Trocadéro: 8, place du Trocadéro, 75016 Paris. Of the several fine cafés on this grand place, this one has the best view of the Eiffel Tower from its terrace.
Musée des Monuments françaises: (now part of the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine) 1, place du Trocadéro, 75016 Paris. An unusual and underutilized museum: of plaster casts of the most famous façades (largely Gothic) from all over France. No need to travel: a definitive tour is possible en fauteuil, as the French would say.
