before answering. “Guess we can, after all the chores are done at the ranch, of course. It‟s the least we could do for all the help we‟ve had from the two of you.”
Flynn nodded almost automatically, but he didn‟t know how to read the suddenly easy interaction between Gable and Grant. He didn‟t get the chance to ask Gable anything until they were back in the truck and on their way home. He wasn‟t totally at ease asking Gable loaded questions while he was driving, because this was still something relatively new to him since the amputation, so he bit his tongue.
“You‟re awfully quiet,” Gable eventually said. They were already on the last stretch before the ranch.
“It was just strange to see you tense one moment and then so relaxed another. After you came back from the restroom… When I saw Grant follow you in there, I thought… Even Hunter looked worried, Gable,” Flynn stammered, trying to put all his feelings into words, but didn‟t feel like he‟d succeeded.
“Everything‟s fine, Flynn,” Gable reassured Flynn. “I admit I didn‟t know what to do when I saw him follow me in, but he just wanted to talk.”
Flynn rolled his eyes at Gable because he felt the tears sting and he didn‟t want to cry. He hoped he could keep his emotions in check until they got home, so he wasn‟t happy when Gable stopped the car by the side of the darkened road and turned off the engine.

“We‟re obstructing traffic, Gabe.”
Gable laughed. “This is our road. Nobody comes here.” He took Flynn‟s hand. “He apologized, Flynn. He said he didn‟t know what had happened to me. He also apologized for all the lies and the denial. He admitted he was gay,” Gable said with a chuckle. “I guess Hunter really is Mr. Right for him.”
“Yeah, they are good together.” Flynn said, squeezing Gable‟s hand in return and feeling a little bit calmer.
“So are we.”
Flynn smiled and felt himself relax completely at Gable‟s loving words. “Does this mean Grant‟s forgiven?”
“No reason to carry a grudge. It‟s a waste of energy. I‟d rather spend that energy on something else. Someone else.” Gable extricated his hand and put it on the back of Flynn‟s head, gently pulling him into a kiss. When they pulled apart, Gable reached for his keys to start the truck again, but Flynn stopped him.
“Can we just stay here for a little while?”
“Sure,” Gable replied, putting his arm around Flynn‟s shoulders and letting him snuggle closer.
“Who‟s Danny?”
“Danny? Oh, Danny‟s Hugh‟s son. Hugh is Hunter‟s foreman and he‟s married to Lisa, who is Hunter‟s oldest sister, so I suppose Danny is Hunter‟s nephew. Oh, and his godson too, I believe.”
“Does Danny have brothers or sisters?”
“Don‟t think so.” Gable threw Flynn a questioning look. “Why?”
“When Hunter was talking about Bernie teaching „the kids‟ to ride horses, he was definitely talking plural. Kids. More than one.
Hunter has more nephews?”
Gable shook his head. “Not that I know of. He has three sisters, but only Lisa has a son. Bernie‟s the baby. She‟s barely out of high school. Middle sister‟s Izzie, who works the ranch. Sweet girls, although Izzie‟s a bit of a tomboy. Don‟t ever take her up on a challenge to arm wrestle. I‟ve never met a guy who didn‟t walk away with a sore arm and a bruised ego.”

“Including you?”
Gable bit his lip. “She almost tore my bicep muscle, and she was only twelve at the time.”
“Wuss,” Flynn said, poking Gable in the ribs. “So who do you think the other kids are?”
Gable shrugged. “Probably classmates of Danny‟s. Kids from town. Plenty there who‟ve barely seen a horse up close.” Flynn wasn‟t sure Gable was right. He was sure Hunter had misspoken and then had tried to hide it by adding the comment about Danny‟s school friends. Eventually he shook his head and decided it wasn‟t worth mulling over.
When Flynn shivered, Gable withdrew his arm and started the car.
“Let‟s go home. I believe you promised me something?”
“Promised?” Flynn parroted.
“Something about finishing what we started in the jack-off room at the hospital?”
“Aaah,” Flynn said with a wicked smile. “Now there‟s an irresistible offer.”
