realised that I had to do something for myself. At the time I was generally extremely run down. I had been neglecting myself and not caring about myself. To begin with I was in a blind panic about the cancer but to be honest the scare brought me to my senses. I realised that I couldn’t go on hating my physical body as much as I did and I can say now that I am glad that the cancer happened because it introduced me to Essiac, to something that ‘walks its talk’.
“The information about the tea just fell into my lap as these things do. It was more the ideal behind what it was about that grabbed my interest at that time. For as long as I can remember I have had a problem with ‘putting a price on healing’. To make money out of another’s pain I find sickening but, when I say something about it, I am usually blasted with ‘what about self worth?’ So does self worth have to have a price?
“I have been taking Essiac for about seven months now, about four times a week. I feel better now than I have done for a very long time because now I am doing something useful. I’m telling people about the decoction and making it up for others. They are all coming back for more and they are all doing very well. One person is in remission, another is convinced the tumour is reduced and is fighting to have another scan to prove it.”
Update (November 1998): “One man who started taking Essiac in April, having been pronounced inoperable, has been given the ‘all clear’. The same is true of a woman who started with the tea in July. Yet another was given a month to live — three months ago”

“I was diagnosed with lung cancer in my left lung on 19th December 1997, undergoing surgery on 12th January 1998, which had to be abandoned due to the location of the carcinoma. Following this I had ten sessions of chemotherapy which left me weak and unable to swallow properly for quite a while. I heard about Essiac through friends and acquaintances and started taking the decoction on March 6th 1998.
“Within a period of six weeks my appetite had returned and my general health improved enormously. I weighed eight stones five pounds on February 12th and I weigh nine stones seven pounds today. Both the consultant at the hospital and my own doctor were amazed at the change in my appearance and at how well I looked. My doctor requested information about the tea for a retired doctor friend of his who is suffering from cancer of the colon.
“August 1998: It’s six months since I had the operation and as of August 7th all my scans and tests are clear. The consultant told me that the tumour is fragmenting and he doesn’t need to see me again. I have been taking Red Clover infusion during the day for the last three weeks as well as taking Essiac at night and I am feeling very well. I told the consultant that I walk three to four miles every day with my greyhound. He told me that I couldn’t walk a quarter of a mile if that lung was packing up. He said I am looking extremely well and that I could come back and see him before Christmas if I wanted to but he was not going to scan me any more because he would just be filling me up with radium and I don’t need that. He told me to go away for a holiday in Australia or New Zealand instead. The retired doctor told me he is doing very well on Essiac and is very pleased with the results.”

“I was diagnosed with metastasis in January 1998. The primary tumour on the kidney had produced a second tumour on my chest wall near the throat and a third in my right femur. The oncologist told me that there was nothing they could do for me because the cancer had already spread too far. They could only offer me palliative treatment when I would be needing it later. They put a nail down the centre of the femur to stabilise it and zapped it two months later with a single dose of radiotherapy. They offered me chemotherapy but I turned it down because they could only guarantee that it would make me feel awful.
“At the time of the visit to the oncologist, I was told that I had six months to live. I just would not accept this. I had done my research into the Essiac formula and decided to go with that. I have been taking it now for the past six months and I feel great. I’m working and that includes travelling between the UK and Central Europe and Canada and the United States.
