Mais ils n'en restent pas moins prêtres . On le voit dans certains articles de la visite des prisons dont parlent les autres ordres. M. Chassin remarque très-bien (livre III, ch. II) que le Clergé n'en parle pas. Il se soucie peu d'introduire le magistrat dans les cruelles prisons d'Église, dans ces ténébreux in pace . Le Clergé et la Noblesse s'accordent pour rester juges, pour garder leurs tribunaux ecclésiastiques, leurs tribunaux féodaux, ces justices qu'on peut dire la moelle même de l'iniquité.
