Love Means No Boundaries - Andrew Grey
welcoming him into their home had been laid to rest pretty quickly. Geoff had filled the office with every tool Robbie could need. A high-end Braille embosser, a second PC complete with top notch speakers and the best text to speech software available, Braille keyboard, and anything else Geoff could think of. He’d even started referring to Robbie as his able assistant.
“Okay, I’ll get on it as soon as the bank opens.” He’d found he was quite good at running things down and spent a good portion of his days placing orders and chasing down loose ends for Geoff.
“Thanks. I never really got on with Jenkins, but he really seems to like you.”

He usually spent his mornings helping Geoff and his afternoons helping Joey where he could. He’d even figured out where he could help with haying and other big projects. He found he had some limits, but his days were very busy and his nights were wonder-filled.
“Robbie.” His attention popped back to the here and now.
“Would you like one egg or two?” Eli asked.
“One, please.”
He heard Joey sit down next to him, felt Rex settle at his feet, and heard the kittens skitter across the floor. A plate was set in front of him, and Joey explained where everything was and began to eat.
Conversation about the farm and the plans for the day were shared and debated. The back door opened and banged closed as the guys arrived and received their tasks for the day. It was haying season and there was plenty to do.
“Do you have a lot to get in?” Robbie asked as he finished his breakfast.
“Enough to keep us busy all day.”
“Then you better get busy, because it’s gonna rain.” Forks dropped on plates. “How do you know?” He heard the skepticism in Geoff’s voice along with a sudden nervousness.
“I can smell it.”
He heard a chair creak. “There’s not a cloud in the sky.”
“I’m just saying….” He knew what his senses were telling him.
The table got quiet for a while. “Then start making calls to see if you can round up some more help.”
Geoff was taking him seriously. How cool was that? Finishing his breakfast, Robbie got up and carefully carried his coffee to the 190 Love Means … NO Boundaries
office. After a close call, Eli had gotten him a stainless travel mug for use in the office.
Robbie found the file and listened as his computer began reading off the names and telephone numbers.
As Robbie was finishing the calls, his cell phone rang, playing a tune that used to make him cringe. “Hi Mama.” She only called every few days now, a big improvement.
“You’re father and I thought we’d come for a visit next month, if that’s okay.”
“Of course.” Robbie was excited for his parents to see the farm. “But you know I’m not coming back with you.” He heard her sigh. “I know. I just miss you something terrible.” He heard a voice behind her. “And Adelle says she misses you too.”
“I miss all of you as well, but I’m happy and useful here.” He went on to tell her all about the things he’d been doing, from riding, to helping Geoff, to convincing Joey to take him on another motorcycle ride, this one uneventful. His rundown was met with silence. “What’s wrong, Mama?”
He heard a sniffle, and he almost dropped the phone. “Was I really holding you back?”
Yes! “Only because you’re my mama, and you love me. I know you did your best for me and what you thought was best for me.” “But what about your music?”
Robbie beamed into the phone. “That’s the best part. I got a job starting in the fall at the middle school in Ludington. I’ll be helping to teach kids to play the violin. It’s only three days a week, but I can’t wait.”

The back door opened, and he heard Geoff calling for him. “I have to go, but call me later, and tell me when you wanna come. I love you, Mama.”
“I love you, too, and tell that Joey I said hello.” He heard a click as she disconnected. Well, I’ll be damned. Maybe by the time she visits, she’ll be able to carry on a conversation with him.
Geoff’s footsteps hurried into the office. Did you pack the cooler?”
“It’s right outside the back door.” And I’m the blind one.
“Check it just to be sure.” The first time they’d asked him to bring drinks, he’d been so proud of himself. He found the cooler on his own, got the sodas and water from the fridge, and even found the ice in the freezer. What he found
