    ~ About this story ~
 
    As I am sure that some readers already have noticed, the idea and main inspiration behind “Seduced by a Dandy” was the dancing scene in “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen.
    This was my first attempt to write something longer than a short story and my first Victorian gay novelette. I wanted to write a different love story, but set in a similar setting as Jane Austen (but perhaps with the deleted scene). 
    I also tried to experiment with the narrative, trying to let it follow the same pattern as in a Victorian dance, shifting between Nathaniel’s and Luciano’s point of view.
    I did quite a lot of research for this story, including the production behind rose oil, men’s fashion during the 19th century, traditional Victorian dances (men were indeed allowed to dance with each other during specific types of dances or if the couples were uneven), the traditional and legend behind Samhain (which today is celebrated as Halloween or All Saints Day).
