Einfach hin und weg

I'm so happy for you and happy you finished your Camino in the way you desired.
    My camino took me just past Viana, Spain and then onto other adventures of visiting dear friends and loved ones back in Southern France and Paris. I walked for a total of 10 days and spent the rest of my time in Europe enjoying the yellow arrows on other paths and in other cities. The camino is always with us, each and every day...
    I remember well our first day walking together. That day, I noticed you stumbling to your right quite consistently and was worried about your health. I have had some training in first aid and feared you were having a stroke as well. I didn't think you noticed my concern! But apparently, you were having the same thoughts — I'm so thankful we were together and able to get through that first stage as a team.
    Once we slowed down, ate some „magic honey“ ; ), drank some water and rested, all was fine! I guess the moral is to always trust Frenchhoney. After the camino, I travelled to Alaska for six weeks to work with a summer camp for teenagers.
    It was hard and rewarding work -- we built a house for a Native American village up there and did quite a bit of hiking in the mountains. I had a wonderful time and when mid-August came, I returned to my home in Oakland, California.
    Now, life is good! I'm am a student again - in a Public Policy graduate program at the University of California - Berkeley. While I'm quite busy these days, I am enjoying the day to day adventures a lot.
    Someday, perhaps, we will share some French or German honey together again. I think you and I were each other's guardian angels in some manner. I remember very well the first night we met at the hostel in Bayonne and you gave me the last room available - saving me from having to walk around Bayonne late into the evening to find another place to stay. That meant so much to me and I remember going to sleep that first night, dreaming of arriving at St.-Jean-Pied-de-Port and thinking about how I had just met my first „angel of the camino“ who gave me his hotel room.
    I wish you and your loved ones all the best. You can rest assured that if I'm ever in Germany, I will write you and see if we can have a reunion. Take care of yourself, Gerd. And continue to love life and bring the joy carry everywhere you go. And I too, hope you woke up smiling this morning.
