Dupont de Nemours, »Maximes du Docteur Quesnay, ou résumé de ses principes d'économie sociale« A10 (Daire, I, p. 391.); ferner Le Trosne: »Infolge der längeren oder kürzeren Lebensdauer der Arbeitserzeugnisse besitzt eine Nation einen von seiner jährlichen Reproduktion unabhängigen beträchtlichen Vorrat von Reichtümern, der ein von langer Hand akkumuliertes Kapital darstellt und, ursprünglich mit Produkten bezahlt, sich immer erhält und wächst,« (Daire, II, p. 928, 929. ) – Turgot braucht das Wort capital schon regelmäßiger für avances, und Identifiziert noch mehr die avances der manufacturiers mit denen der Pächter. (Turgot, »Réflexions sur la Formation et la Distribution des Richesses«, 1766.)

    29 Wie sehr A. Smith sich selbst den Weg versperrt hat zum Verständnis der Rolle der Arbeitskraft im Verwertungsprozeß, beweist folgender Satz, der die Arbeit der Arbeiter nach physiokratischer Weise mit der des Arbeitsviehs auf gleiche Stufe stellt: »Nicht nur sein« (des Pächters) »Arbeitsgesinde, auch sein Arbeitsvieh besteht aus produktiven Arbeitern.« (Book II, chap.
